Compassion repairs the broken souls of refugees

Sadly, today Europe is encountering the worst refugee emergency since World War II due to people fleeing war and persecution in countries such as Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. Over half a million scared and exhausted people have made the death-defying crossing over the Mediterranean Sea with the hope of finding peace and safety. Tragically, many never make it. One in five of those who do survive the journey are children, many without parents and most have seen and experienced unspeakable horrors.

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” – Helen Keller

    The 14th anniversary of 9/11

September 11, 2015 will be the 14th anniversary of one the darkest days in American history. The world watched in sheer horror that day, as an unforgettable moment of the 21st Century unfolded and changed the course of American history forever. It took a few minutes to grasp. Every person reading this can tell you exactly what they were doing at that moment. Offices stopped conducting business. Televisions were set up in lobbies with entire staffs glued to the scene of terror, unexpected death and fear. As rumors filled the airways, and more planes were reported; the real concept that someone was actually attacking America on American soil began to form.

    A remarkable underwater cemetery

The ocean has always been considered a serene place. The sounds of waves crashing onto land has long been viewed as soothing, as is the gentle rock of a boat on water. The Neptune Society, a well-respected cremation services provider that has been around for over three decades, agrees wholeheartedly with this vision of the ocean and has created a remarkable underwater cemetery.

“We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch – we are going back from whence we came.” – John F. Kennedy

    Let your legacy live forever

We all know the importance of having good friends and family in our lives. By having these special people in our lives we make fond memories, and these memories live on even after we’ve gone. Hopefully as you make memories this Easter you are storing these memories within your Afternote account, enabling your loved ones to reminisce.

“You must trust and believe in people or life becomes impossible” – Anton Chekhov

It’s extremely important to invite trustees to your Afternote account. Without a trustee your final wishes, goodbye messages and memories that you left will not be seen, and that’s a sad thought. A trustee is someone who you completely trust.

How to manage your digital legacy

You might be someone who only spends a few minutes per day, you might use it every five minutes…but the fact is that most of us have at least one social media account, and some of us want to know what actually happens to our accounts when we die. Does a family member need to remove them? Twitter for example will delete your account after it has been inactive for six months, but most other social media networks will not do anything unless specifically instructed to by a member of your family.
